Khan said, “Since I’ve managed West Indies for quite a number of years, I always told the bigger named players; [Christopher ] Gayle, [Ramnaresh] Sarwan and so on that the greatest achievement is for a cricketer to play for his country”.
He urged the players not to become complacent with their selection, but instead use the opportunity to better their game from being amongst professional cricketers and keep their fitness at a peak level.
Khan further posited, the franchise believes local players will have the edge in these playing conditions among other well revised aspects.
While Shepherd joins the Warriors for the first time, Persaud and Rutherford have been included in the previous seasons on a developmental basis.
